Extractions, Wisdom Teeth & Oral Surgery

When a tooth has to come out, we make it as calm and comfortable as possible.

Oral Surgery

Gentle care for a tough day.

Nobody looks forward to having a tooth pulled. We get it. Our goal is to keep you comfortable, keep you informed and get you back to normal quickly.

We always try to save a tooth first. When that is not possible, Dr. Patel explains why, what the procedure involves and what your options are for replacing the tooth afterward.

If a case is complex enough that a specialist is the better choice, we will tell you upfront and help with the referral.

Our Procedures

Oral surgery in a familiar office.

Most of these procedures are done with local anesthesia in a single visit.

Simple / Surgical Extractions

Simple extractions remove a visible tooth. Surgical extractions handle broken teeth or teeth that have not fully come in.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Wisdom teeth that are impacted, crowded or causing pain and swelling are often best removed in the late teens or early twenties.

Bone Graft

A bone graft rebuilds jawbone after an extraction or bone loss, often to prepare for a dental implant.

Do my wisdom teeth need to come out?

Not always. If your wisdom teeth come in straight, have room and you can keep them clean, they may be fine. We usually recommend removal when they are impacted (stuck under the gum or bone), coming in at an angle, causing repeated gum infections, or crowding nearby teeth. X-rays tell us a lot, and we will show you what we see.

Recovering after an extraction

Replacing an extracted tooth

A missing back tooth can let nearby teeth tip and shift over time. Talk with us about replacing it with a dental implant, a bridge or a partial denture. Sometimes we place a bone graft right at the time of extraction to keep your implant options open.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to recover from a tooth extraction?

Most people feel better within a few days. A simple extraction site usually heals in one to two weeks. Wisdom teeth can take a little longer.

What is a dry socket?

A dry socket happens when the blood clot in the extraction site is lost too early, exposing the bone. It causes throbbing pain a few days after the extraction. Call us if this happens; it is treatable.

Do you remove wisdom teeth in the office?

Yes, many wisdom teeth can be removed right in our office. For very complex impacted cases, we may refer you to an oral surgeon.

Why would I need a bone graft?

A bone graft rebuilds bone in the jaw where it has been lost. It is most often done to make sure there is enough bone to hold a dental implant.
