Most dental problems start quietly. A tiny cavity, a little gum bleeding, a crack you cannot feel yet. A regular checkup is how we catch these early, while the fix is quick and affordable.
At every exam Dr. Patel looks at your teeth, gums, bite and the soft tissue of your mouth. We take digital X-rays when they are due, talk you through what we see on the screen, and only recommend treatment you actually need.
Families often book back-to-back appointments so parents and kids are in and out together. Ask the front desk and we will line it up for you.
A typical preventive visit at either office covers these four things.
A full look at every tooth, your gums, jaw joints and bite. We check old fillings and crowns too, since they wear out over time.
Our hygienist removes plaque and hardened tartar that brushing cannot reach, then polishes your teeth smooth so plaque has a harder time sticking.
Digital images use far less radiation than old film and show up on screen right away, so you can see exactly what we are talking about.
A quick, painless check of your tongue, cheeks, gums and throat for lumps, patches or sores. Early detection makes a real difference.
When we do find a cavity, we repair it with composite resin matched to your tooth shade. No silver, and most people cannot tell it is there.
Fluoride helps strengthen enamel. We also give practical tips for brushing, flossing and diet based on what we actually see in your mouth.
For most adults and kids, every six months works well. If you have gum disease, a history of lots of cavities, diabetes, or you are pregnant, we may suggest coming in more often. If your mouth stays healthy, twice a year is usually enough. Many insurance plans cover two cleanings a year at little or no cost, so it is worth using them.
If any of these sound familiar, call us. Walk-ins are welcome at both offices, and we will fit you in as soon as we can. For a bad toothache or swelling, see our emergency dental care page.
We use tooth-colored composite for fillings. Dr. Patel removes the decay, shapes the resin to your natural tooth and hardens it with a special light, all in one visit. Small fillings usually take less than an hour. If a cavity is too large for a filling to hold up, we will talk with you about a crown instead.
Preventive care is usually the best-covered part of any dental plan. We accept most major dental insurance plans, plus Texas Medicaid and CHIP, and we file claims for you. No insurance? Our in-house membership plan covers routine care with no waiting periods or annual caps, and new patients without insurance can ask about our new patient special.
Plan on about an hour for a regular visit. Your first visit with us may run a little longer because we take a full set of X-rays and go over your health history.
No. Digital X-rays are quick and painless, and they use much less radiation than traditional film. We only take them when they are actually due.
Modern composite fillings hold up very well for small and medium cavities. For very large cavities on back teeth, a crown is often the stronger long-term choice, and we will tell you if that is the case.
Yes. We are a family practice, and many families book appointments back to back so everyone is done in one trip.
Most patients need more than one kind of care over the years. Here is where to go next.
